The Family Table Initiative is a collaboration between the Menendez Family of Sunset 44 Bistro and both the Link Market and St. Louis Area Foodbank to put nutritious family dinners in the hands of kids and families who don't have access to fresh food in this time of need. In addition, the Family Table
provides jobs for restaurant industry
workers.
THE LOGISTICS
Since March of 2019, Sunset 44 has served over 28,000 meals to families in need. Each family meal served contains wholesome entrees & sides.
At the beginning of the COVID pandemic, a generous customer seeded the program with a pledge to donate 2000 meals and put the staff back to work. However, the Sunset 44 community stepped up and we were able to leverage this donation and rehire more staff and put them to work getting even more meals to the hungry.
In the Spring of 2020, The Link Market helped us distribute ~400 meals at their new location in the St. Louis Housing Authority Building in the Grand Center Neighborhood on every Monday.
Sunset 44 then partnered with the St. Louis Area Foodbank in order to reach even more hungry families. The Foodbank distributed over 500 meals weekly all over the STL Region to 40 different agencies.
We want to thank EVERYONE that supported this initiative: our generous donors, the Link Market, The St. Louis Area Foodbank, and our staff who prepared all of the meals.
